Learning
Life is a journey, not a destination. This week I am learning a lot of new things about how to create meaning to my life. I should ask questions to those who are in their 70s and 80s about what they learned from life and then listen.
I need to discover what my spiritual gifts are and then use them. If I don't know what they are, I need to as Elder Hales said, "to find the gifts we have been given, we must pray and fast...I urge you each to discover your gifts and to seek after those that will bring direction to your life's work and that will further the work of heaven."
I learned about the Cycle of Spiritual Guidance.
1. Discover your true identity
2. Trust your inner voice
3. Have faith to act right away
4. Be at peace with Heaven's timing
5. Live well
6. Repeat throughout your life
By following this cycle, it helps me to trust in God. This will help me to become who God wants me to be.
What are my core values? How do I determine my core values?
In chapter 2 of Launching Leaders it gives me steps to find out.
1. Find Holy Ground--a place where I feel comfortable praying and pondering
2. Ponder--Think deeply about who I want to become in the future.
3. Write Core Value Statements--write down key attributes of who I want to become in the future.
4. Rank Core Values--rank them in order of importance.
5. Do core values align with God?--pair each of core value statements with a passage from the Bible.
In Chapter 3 I learned about Mentors.
Mentors help us bridge the gap between who we are today and who we want to be in the future.
They help us on the road by giving us advice and their experience that will help us.
Mentors will be our personal Bridge to Success.
Always show gratitude to your mentors. This is a friendship built on trust and a growing friendship.
Give back to those who also need help from a mentor.
