Childhood dreams

This week I listened to Randy Pausch's last lecture. He was a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and this happened to really be his last lecture. He asked the question, "How do you achieve your childhood dreams?" I believe he achieved so many of his childhood dreams because he never gave up. He realized that "brick walls were there to stop people who don't want it badly enough." We have to keep pushing through the hard times. He was creative. His parents allowed him the freedom to be creative. I feel it is important to allow ourselves and others the creative liberty to discover new ways of doing things. Lastly, we need to help others achieve their childhood dreams. When we get where we are going, as Tim McGraw says in his song, Humble and Kind, "don't forget to turn back around and help the next one in line."

I feel that dreaming is important because it gives us a chance to think deeply on where we want to be. It is goal setting and thinking of possibilities. We are able to think of stepping stones to reach our stars. I believe the next step is to talk about our goals to others. From here, we are able to connect with those persons who could help us reach our star.

One of my childhood dreams is to own a quilt shop. I believe I can achieve this dream. I need to remember that brick walls are there to see if I want this dream badly enough. I am looking forward to learning more about the process of having my own business. I know that networking with others will help me find the information I need to be successful. I enjoy talking with new quilt shop owners as well as experienced to encourage me on my journey to entrepreneurship.
